Stay Healthy While You Play Dads n Grads!

The time of year is upon us when we honor Dads & Grads (who can sometimes be both at the same time). As you would expect, this is also a time where people enjoy increased physical activity--parties, BBQs or sports activities where aches, pains, and injuries are a risk. How can you minimize your risk of injury so that you can participate in all of the fun activities you and your family enjoy? Here are some facts and tips from our San Luis Obispo Chiropractic clinic:

Avoid temperature-caused injuries- When it's cold, bundle up. Likewise when it's hot, wear suitable clothing, and ensure you're properly hydrated. When feasible, consider working out in cooler conditions, such as moving a mid-day run to the morning.

Wear proper equipment- Tennis shoes are not appropriate for basketball and running. In contact sports, be sure that protective equipment is worn at all times; and be sure it fits properly, especially with growing children.

Use and learn correct form- There's no substitute for pure grit and determination, but it has been said, 'Practice doesn't make perfect. PERFECT practice makes perfect.' Find a coach, or a peer group, that can guide you to your goals.

Trust your health care professional- Doctors of chiropractic (DCs) are uniquely trained to analyze and optimize the function of the nervous system and the human frame and are excellent choices for athletes seeking to overcome injury, or preventing it in the first place.

Dr. Scott Dubrul works with Cal Poly Athletes and collegiate teams, and most professional sports teams have official relationships with chiropractic physicians. When the world comes together at the Olympic Games, the nations also bring their officially credentialed DCs with them!!

The Killer White Powder

Think of sugar as a wave; it rushes into your bloodstream quickly, forcing your body to react with a surge of insulin. The result: a SHORT burst of energy, followed by a down phase once it's removed from the bloodstream. In other words, you have lots of energy and then little or no energy in a short period of time. Are you tired of this BLOOD SUGAR ROLLER COASTER? Limit your sugar intake in favor of nutrient-dense foods with our 10-day Blood Sugar Program. This program will supply your body with 10 days of high quality whole food supplements that help you develop a strong foundation to help control the underlying causes of unbalanced blood sugar.

You'll Eat Better & You'll Save Money!!

"Since meeting Dr. Dubrul, not only has he offered me amazing nutritional guidance with Standard Process and Mediherb products, but she has also taught me to listen to my body. I now see the negative impact my poor habits had on me; refined sugar, processed foods, diet coke and gluten all act as a trigger for what was once a daily struggle of living with chronic headaches. Goodbye, Prescription Meds; Hello, Whole Food Nutrition!"
