Suffering from Season Allergies?

Hundreds of San Luis Obispo residents alter their spring and summer activities because of their season allergies. For many of us allergies mean not being able to enjoy a certain outdoor-part of their "SLO life". Doing yard work, playing golf, or taking a walk should all be part of spring and summer-time fun. But, if you are an allergy sufferer it can mean misery.

While anti-histamines (both prescription and non-prescription) have helped to reduce the severity of some allergy symptoms, these are not without side-effects, especially in children whose allergies may be treated with a lifetime of medication, and do nothing to resolve the cause of the allergies. By improving your overall health through diet, exercise, and chiropractic adjustments a healthier you may mean an allergy-free you.

  1. Balance your system Ph (acid-alkaline)

One major aggravating factor of allergies is a body that is not acidic enough. This condition, called alkalosis, aggravates all allergies. Correcting this with ammonium chloride and calcium chloride often and almost always does relieve the symptoms within hours. Supplement: Cal-Ammo—Take 2 capsules 3 times daily

  1. Support specific body systems that play a major role in allergies

Supplement: Allerplex—Take 3 capsules 3 times daily-Great combo formula containing adrenal support (cataplex AC, Drenatrophin), liver support (betacol, antronex), immune support (cataplex AC), and specific lung support for asthma types (pneumotrophin)

  1. Support the Production of Healthy Bacteria

Supplement: Pre/Probiotic 2 capsules per day with meals: If there is a digestive tract irritation and the integrity of your intestinal lining is compromised, food particles, bacteria and metabolic wastes pass through the intestinal wall and your body experiences significant increases in inflammation. Your immune system may become confused and begin to attack your own body as if it were an enemy (autoimmune diseases such as Hypothyroidism). In essence, your immune system is out of balance.

  1. DIET

Remove inflammatory foods i.e. Processed carbs, sugars, fructose, etc.; remove hydrogenated and trans-fats (these are very detrimental to cellular health and integrity); remove allergies (eggs, nuts, dairy, soy, etc). Obviously, you need to eat a healthy, non-inflammatory diet like the Mediterranean Type Diet.

  1. Reduce Systemic Inflammation (Balance of omega-6 to omega-3)

Omega 3 Fatty Acids (Fish Oils) help decrease the overactive response in the allergy sufferer. They also make up a large amount of the fat found in our brain and nervous system. Finally, they regulate inflammation in our bodies, which is now being shown to be instrumental in many inflammatory conditions.  Only take high quality versions like one ones we have at our office.  5000 mg combined EPA/DHA per day.

And because I am a chiropractor, I MUST mention that one of the best ways to improve immune system function is to improve nervous system function!  The nervous system (housed in your spine) regulates the immune system, a properly functioning nervous system is better able to coordinated immune cell activity.  Chiropractic adjustments have helped many allergy sufferers by improving the health of the nervous system.
